That being said, the place can sometimes get too crowded, but it still offers tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced meals.
Restaurant Velo Misto on Zenta
Restaurant Velo Misto on Zenta is a beautiful, modern and cozy decorated restaurant, located in a quiet area outside the center with a beautiful view of the sea and marina Zenta. They offer homemade and healthy Dalmatian-Mediterranean cuisine, with friendly staff.
Restaurant Perivoj
Restaurant Perivoj is a relatively new place, located just 10 minutes walk from the palace, and tucked away in a historic 1900s villa in the backstreets of the old town. Besides good location and great art-deco surroundings, it also has an amazing food and superb service. It is a culinary gem with award-winning chefs serving up a menu of typically Croatian dishes and with a wide selection of desserts and cakes.
Restaurant Ivo is one of the most popular places among the locals. It is located in Stobreč, a small town only 7 km away from Split’s historical center. It offers excellent food, including “the best” pizza, huge portions, and has a lovely and authentic atmosphere with cheap prices.
Restaurant Struja is also located in Stobreč, along the seaside promenade. It has a lovely view of the bay and the sandy beach. The food is great, menu is diverse and the prices are more than fair.The restaurant is nicely decorated, with places to sit inside and outside.

Restaurant Portas is a family owned restaurant, located in the Diocletian’s Palace, near the Golden Gate. They the most popular and top-quality meals, among which are especially delicious pizza, homemade original Dalmatian pasta and delicious Dalmatia seafood salads. Also, you can eat breakfast here. The place is mostly full thanks to its great staff, charming space and reasonably priced, yet great food.
Steak & Pizza Bar Bakra is one of best pizza places in town. They offer great pizzas from a wood-fired oven, first-class premium steaks from around the world to traditional Dalmatian food. Old-fashioned interior is combined with good service, fair prices and a homely atmosphere. They offer small and large size pizza and you can choose among numerous toppings.
